Hello, dear friend! Today, we are going to talk about seven mistakes that are very common among non-French speakers and we are going to see how to stop making them again.
Hello and thank you for joining me for this new video. And today, as I said, we are going to talk about mistakes. I know that this is a subject that interests you a lot. We have already made several videos on mistakes to avoid and this is something that interests you because of course you want to improve yourself and speak correctly.
So, I always insist on the fact that you shouldn't stress when speaking and that it's important not to be afraid of making mistakes. And I stand by that. It's important to speak confidently and calmly without constantly thinking: "Am I making a mistake?" That's very important. But of course, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to improve and progress. And that's what we're going to do today by studying seven typical, classic mistakes that I often hear, that non-native speakers, that non-French speakers often make, and we're going to see how you can avoid making them. And so our goal is clear and simple, we want to help you speak in a slightly more correct way when speaking.

So, let's now discover some fairly classic mistakes that non-French speakers make.
First big mistake is to use "le" or "les" after the preposition "à". For example, say manger à le restaurant or aller à le cinéma or aller à les toilettes. After "à", we never put "le". We don't say "à le". After "à", we never put "les". We don't say "à les".
Before "le" and "les", the preposition "à" is contracted and we will say "au" instead of "à le" and "aux" instead of "à les". For example: Je vais manger à le restaurant becomes je vais manger au restaurant. Je dois aller à les toilettes becomes je dois aller aux toilettes.
Be careful not to make these 7 mistakes in French!
