Let’s face it, web ads are not just here to stay, they’re proliferating. While the thought of Publishers Clearing House ads dancing across your mouse cursor might be a nightmare, that image couldn’t be further from the reality of modern advertising strategies. For starters, interactive design is often a developer’s most important consideration when creating a site or software. Long gone (at least in modern practice) are high-contrast ads that prevent you from interacting with the content before the message is delivered. Perhaps more importantly, ads are often the reason you can read TechCrunch, use Google search, access Gmail, and chat on Facebook without having to go through a paywall. Heck, that’s why most of these sites and products exist today. Advertising has thus enabled otherwise unviable companies and products to become some of the most well-known and customer-friendly organizations in the world, and has directly contributed to accessibility, innovation, and freedom of information in ways that would not have been possible otherwise. However, disruptive advertising still exists and is a huge source of frustration in terms of engagement. For this reason, and a number of others, mostly related to user experience and perception, advertising has largely remained outside of business software.

Enter the explosion of software adoption among taiwanese phone number format budget-conscious small and medium-sized businesses. As a result, many software developers have benefited from the ability to subsidize or completely cover the costs of developing and delivering software through advertising, with little pushback from the business community. After all, the software works, and best of all, it’s free (yay!). In some very well-executed cases, these efforts have been wildly successful (just look at SpiceWorks), while in others, they have been a complete failure.
