Why the cookie law?

Website Owners' Compliance
It all started with an EU directive adopted across the European Union in May 2011. The directive gave individuals the right to refuse the use of cookies that reduce their online privacy. Each country then updated its laws to reflect this. In the UK, this involved updating the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.


Almost all websites use cookies – small data files – to iceland phone number list information in users’ browsers. Some sites have hundreds of them! What it means for businesses
If you have a website, you need to make sure it complies with the law, and that usually means making some changes. If you don't comply, you risk enforcement action from regulators, which in the UK means the Information Commissioners' Office (ICO). In exceptional cases, this can result in a fine.
