While many of the atrocities of usability design are less common than they once were, they still exist. Let's look at ten of the most egregious crimes against users. These are the disasters of web design and the horrors of HTML.

Search engines that require literal input reduce usability. They cannot handle typos, plurals, hyphens, and other variations in query terms. They are especially difficult for older people to use, and they are not user-friendly for everyone.
Search engines prioritize results based solely on the number of query terms they contain, not on the importance of each document.
It's much better if an online information service allocates "best bets" at the top of the list for important queries like your product names.
