It is always better to implement information modeling in an organization on a pilot project - this way you will be able to test all the approaches and functions of the selected software. The head of the information modeling department Ekaterina Kuznetsova and TIM consultant Gennady Kuporov spoke about how this is implemented at the design and survey institute "ROST-PROEKT" as part of the PRO TIM INFRA conference. They covered the methodologies, tools and processes for implementing BIM in the real conditions of a telegram in philippines design organization.
At the beginning of the presentation, the experts decided to describe to the participants of the event the definition of a pilot project adopted in the company.
“In our case, this is the development of information modeling tools or the formation of processes in design and survey activities,” explained Gennady Kuporov.
At ROST-PROEKT, which specializes in the design of linear infrastructure facilities, pilot projects allow testing specialized software and developing new work processes.
Project management tools
Effective implementation of pilot projects is impossible without using proven methodologies. The TIM consultant named the following as possible approaches:
Waterfall model - sequential execution of project stages
Agile methodology - a more adaptive approach that allows for changes to be made as tasks are completed
Hybrid methodologies are a combination of the two above mentioned approaches depending on the needs of the project
The management methodology defines the structure and sequence of actions, and also helps to control the implementation of tasks and achieve the set goals within the framework of the pilot project.
Organization of document flow
One of the most important stages of pilot project management is the development of regulatory documentation. The design and survey institute uses two tools for these purposes:
A pilot project passport is a document that records the goals and objectives of the project, stages of implementation and expected results, as well as the composition of participants, deadlines and possible risks
"The performer's combat log" is a form that allows you to record the sequence of work, emerging issues and problems. The project manager also has access to the log, which allows you to quickly adjust the actions of the performers
Project Management Tools
The institute's specialists use several software products for project management:
Pilot-ICE is a project management system with differentiation of access rights and participant roles. Despite its effectiveness, this system may be too cumbersome for pilot projects
Yougile is a cloud solution that provides a more flexible and creative approach to task design. Yougile allows you to quickly issue tasks and track their completion, creating an atmosphere of involvement and creativity among project participants
