The best way to learn is from your own mistakes, but you can also learn to do better from the mistakes of others. We were recently supposed to be "acquired". An everyday situation in which so much can obviously go wrong.

One Friday afternoon, the sales representative of a hosting provider stumbled into our support chat. Without introducing himself, the conversation began with a lot of praise for our CRM . Nothing unusual so far, as we often don't ask for the name if the customer or interested party wishes to remain anonymous. And it is not unusual for new registrations in particular to receive brief croatia telegram screening praise - but that is just a side note. I asked how I could help him. He then explained himself briefly - sales representatives for a hosting provider look after many customers in their data center - including many CRM providers. When I asked, I found out his name.

The process alone means so much. The praise for our system made me quickly look at his name - he is not registered in any of our systems, but is already totally enthusiastic after the tour. Very credible.

What am I thinking? In most companies, you are almost certainly at the wrong address in the support chat with such a request. Now there are two options: Either the sales colleague is not aware of it - that would probably be considered incompetence. Alternatively, it is malicious, like calling in the evening and hoping that the secretary is already at home and the decision-maker will answer straight away. Maybe he thought the poor support employee would let something slip and give out the boss's number straight away. Oh well.

He did indeed ask for the right contact person. Even though I made it clear to him straight away that we are very happy with our own solution and are not interested in his highly scalable solutions like Amazon, he was keen to speak to the right contact person. Because you never get any dumber when you know your alternatives, I even gave him my colleague's name. He wanted the direct number so that he could just have a casual chat with him on Monday.
