WordCamp Vigo Summary
What is a Wordcamp?
A WordCamp is a conference focused on all things WordPress. These conferences ksa phone numbers are community events organized by volunteers and sponsored by the WordPress Foundation. WordCamps feature presentations, workshops, and discussion sessions on a variety of WordPress-related topics, such as development, design, marketing, content, security, and more.

WordCamps are known for their friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and are designed to be inclusive and accessible to people of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced developers. These events take place in cities around the world and are a great opportunity to learn, network, and contribute to the WordPress community.

How does a WordCamp work?
Within a WordCamp, various types of events are held designed to cover a wide range of interests and experience levels related to WordPress. During WordCamp Vigo 2024 we were able to enjoy multiple activities divided into three days:

Day 1 Do Action
The 'do_action' is an initiative within the WordCamps sphere that focuses on the realization of charity events or charitable hackathons for non-profit organizations. These events are organized by the WordPress community and aim to use the knowledge and skills of the participants to benefit the wider community. Some typical activities that take place during a 'do_action' event would be:

Website Development : Volunteers work on creating or improving websites for nonprofit organizations. This can include designing, developing, setting up, and launching entire WordPress sites.

Training Workshops : Training sessions can be held for nonprofit staff, teaching them how to use and maintain their new websites, as well as best practices for content management and security.

Consulting and Strategy : Marketing, SEO, and digital strategy experts can offer advice on how to improve the online presence of beneficiary organizations.

Plugin and Theme Development : In some cases, volunteers may develop custom plugins or themes to meet the specific needs of participating organizations.

Testing and QA : Activities to ensure that developed websites are functional, accessible, and error-free before being delivered to organizations.

Technical Support : Technical assistance to resolve existing problems on the websites of non-profit organizations and provide them with effective solutions.

The main purpose of 'do_action' events is to provide tangible, practical support to organisations that might not have the resources to develop and maintain a professional digital presence. These events are a great way for the WordPress community to positively contribute to society using their skills and knowledge.

Specifically, at Wordcamp Vigo 2024, held in the Vigo business circle, the community was able to develop the creation of a website for three NGOs:

The Vigo Association of Autism Spectrum Disorders (AsTEAVi).
The Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis Association (ACCU-Vigo).
In Family, Family Fostering NGO.
