very year on March 31st it is World Backup Day. The day of the year to remind yourself, friends and family of the importance of backups. Why should you participate? And how do you make sure you pass with a big 10 in backing up your data?

Why is backing up so important?
Most of the time, you only think about backing up when your computer breaks down or you accidentally delete important files. This doesn’t happen very often, which is why the need for regular backups is underestimated.

For example, a Backblaze survey found that 24 percent of the 2,000+ respondents had never backed up their files. Fortunately, this number has dropped significantly since 2008 (38 percent).

How often do you make a backup?
The figures also show that the vast majority hospital email lists back up their data at most once a year. However, there are things that do happen that make backing up more often desirable:

You regularly add new files to your computer.
Files are (accidentally) changed or deleted.
You buy a new computer.
A hard drive wo n't last forever .
You become a victim of Ransomware .
Creating a backup: how does it work?
A good backup is stored on multiple devices, is recreated regularly, and contains multiple versions of your documents. Read below to find out what you need to meet these requirements.

Backups on multiple devices
Of course, you can copy important documents to another folder on your computer, but what good is that if your computer's hard drive fails? In this case, your drive is a so-called single point of failure .

That's why it's important to store your data at multiple levels. If one device fails, your data is still safe in another place.
