The first part can be read here . From this part, you will learn whether there were any unsuccessful solutions in the PlantLinker system; whether the system has functionality for creating P&ID diagrams; whether it is possible to transfer an information 3D model of a process pipeline for engineering calculations, and where a test drive of PlantLinker will take place in the near future.

What companies and projects is PlantLinker primarily intended for?

For a variety of purposes. In fact, we never positioned PlantLinker as a CAD system before 2022. It was always a data transfer system, as well as a modeling and preliminary design system for feasibility studies. We even presented it to Intergraph in this vein. Abroad, this is called “conceptual design.”

Firstly, the system allows working both as part of a large team and autonomously, even from your kitchen. The distribution takes up less than 100 megabytes on the working disk. By the way, I would like to note that early Western systems for modeling were also created by engineers, were compact and easy to learn, and only then did they grow due to various external factors.

Secondly, PlantLinker is developed only on the basis of open source libraries. Therefore, we have no obligations to third parties. The graphics core is created using the Helix Toolkit library based on DirectX11, to which we have made some changes and extensions.

At the same time, we fundamentally refused to use DBMS. To install Oracle or MS SQL Server, you need to have special knowledge. In addition, to work with them, you need a very powerful computer. Therefore, in order to reduce the technical requirements for the workplace and simplify the system, we refused to use DBMS.

Does PlantLinker have a trial/test version?

A very good and sensitive question. Let me remind you that all large Western companies like Aveva and Intergraph do not give out trial versions. What was the reason for this approach? The thing is that their systems are very complex and require additional configuration of directories for different requirements. And if you give them to an unprepared person, you will not benefit. He will not understand where to start, how to work and will simply abandon it with a negative opinion about it.

PlantLinker is a similarly complex system. That is why we are cautious about distributing trial versions. But if the company's employees undergo our training, and we agree with them in advance on what they are testing, then we prepare the necessary settings and catalogs and provide a trial version. This is necessary to get a positive test result.

But a negative effect can also be an impetus for development. In addition, along with the demo version of the product, you can provide a demo project and a short user guide with specific steps for implementing this project.

Great, now we come to discussing our immediate plans. Firstly, soon on the site plantlinker.ru there will be a free module for viewing 3D models, available for download, and a free version of the 2D editor, in which you can work on any drawings made in PlantLinker .

And on April 23 of this year we will hold a free seminar “Presentation and test drive of PlantLinker 2024 CAD”, where we will present the new version of PlantLinker 2024.

First, we will discuss the new functional capabilities, and in the second part we will proceed to the test drive. The hall will have workstations where everyone can take a specific course to familiarize themselves with the system, from modeling to drawing release. In particular, it will be possible to test data transfer to other systems. Test drive participants will receive a printed version of the course and a demo version of PlantLinker.
