I hope that in a shorter rather than longer time I will be able to deepen the knowledge that I already have and that I gained thanks to a year of work at BNY Mellon. I think that the next level, a senior position, is more and more within my reach. I hope to be associated with the company for a longer time and maybe develop in some other areas of investment banking. The sky is the limit!

Talent Days: Why did you, as BNY Mellon, participate in Talent Days? What was your goal? Was this your first time at our job fair?
BNY Mellon: As a company, we are looking for both people with little experience and candidates with 1-3 years of experience. By participating in job fairs, we have the opportunity to reach people who are just looking for their career path, want to change industries or expand their current experience, which perfectly matches our diverse needs. Face-to-face meetings are the best way to establish relationships and find the most promising candidates. At the booth, we present currently open roles and talk about the recruitment process and the nature of work in our company.
Talent Days: What kind of people/talents were you looking for at Talent Days? For what positions?
BNY Mellon: We are primarily looking for motivated people who want to learn and are able to communicate in English. At BNY Mellon, new talents can develop in broadly understood financial areas, including investments, operational departments, as well as IT and project management departments. By applying to us, you can expand your experience and competences - starting from internships, junior roles, through specialist and expert roles.
Talent Days: And the traits or skills you look for in your dream candidates are…?
BNY Mellon: When it comes to the ideal candidate, to the previously mentioned characteristics, i.e. motivation, willingness to learn and knowledge of English, we would only add knowledge of finance, investments and financial instruments.
Talent Days: Why did you choose Agnieszka?
BNY Mellon: Agnieszka is the perfect candidate! After a short conversation with Agnieszka, it was clear that she was incredibly motivated, focused, goal-oriented, and eager to learn, improve, and develop. Since we are looking for people like that, we wanted her to be able to develop her wings (and career) with us!
Talent Days: Do you have any advice on career and participation in recruitment processes that you could share with our young Talents – people starting their career path?
BNY Mellon: We have three pieces of advice for all candidates starting their careers. The first is to write a clear CV in English. The second is to prepare for the interview – learn something about the company and the position you are applying for. And the last one – present yourself! The interview is a great opportunity to talk about your experience and skills. Share what you have learned, what your goals are and what motivates you. Every recruitment interview is an added value to our experience, even the less than successful one.
