The important new features of Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4 introduces a new data collection scheme. The new approach is no longer session-based, but event-based .

What does it mean?

All hits are considered events (in the previous version hong kong phone number list there were also other types of hits, such as pageview).

Google Analytics 4 defines four different types of events:

events collected automatically : they do not require any particular configuration, other than the activation of Google Analytics 4
advanced measurement events
recommended events : these are not automatic, but must be implemented at code level
events created by me (also called “ custom events ”)
With the new update it is possible to transform events into conversions . But the best news (which will make many Data Analysts smile) is that this operation has a retroactive effect .

Bye Bye Google Tag Manager (or almost)
In the previous version, to monitor more “particular” interactions, such as clicks on a link or views of a video, it was necessary to configure Google Tag Manager.
