The basis of good URL parameter management is correct labeling

Post by kexej28769@nongnue »

Keyword Cannibalization: Filtered versions of the original URL target the same set of keywords. This causes multiple pages to compete for the same positions , leading crawlers to decide that the filtered pages add no real value to users.

Diluted ranking signals: With multiple URLs pointing to the same content, links and social shares could point to any parametric version of the page. This can further confuse crawlers, who won’t know which of the competing pages list of italy consumer email should rank for the search query.
Poor URL Readability: When optimizing your URL structure, we want it to be simple and understandable. A long string of code and numbers is not the best. A parametric URL is virtually unreadable for users. When displayed in SERPs, in a newsletter, or on social media, a parametric URL looks unreliable, making it less likely that users will choose to click through and share the page.

How to Manage URL Parameters for Good SEO
Most of the above SEO problems can be traced back to one root cause: the crawling and indexing of all the parametric URLs . But fortunately, webmasters are not helpless in the face of the endless creation of new URLs caused by parameters.

Please note : SEO problems arise when URLs containing parameters display duplicate and non-unique content, i.e. those generated by passive URL parameters. These links - and only these - should not be indexed.

Check your Crawl Budget
Your crawl budget is the number of pages that bots will crawl on your site before moving on to the next one. Every website has a different crawl budget and you always want to make sure yours isn't wasted.

Unfortunately, having a lot of crawlable, low-value URLs, such as parametric URLs created by faceted navigations, is a waste of your crawl budget.
