The harmful effects of the like culture
As social media has invaded our private lives, science has been studying and analyzing the consequences that social media has on us. Several scientific studies show that there is a direct relationship between the abuse of social media and the appearance of psychological problems such as anxiety or depression.

Relationship between social media use and mental health
Research conducted by scientists at Harvard University student data confirms the above premise. The use of social networks such as TikTok, Facebook or Snapchat increased the perception of depressive symptoms in 39%, 42% and 53% of users of each of the respective social networks.

However, there is a differentiating element that explains why some users are more vulnerable than others to social media use. According to data from the Harvard study, Facebook use was associated with a 2.6 times higher risk of suffering from depressive symptoms in users under 35 years of age.

Another study published by the scientific journal EClinicalMedicine concluded that there is more than enough evidence to link the abuse of social networks with psycho-emotional pathologies such as depression .

After interviewing 10,904 British 14-year-olds, they observed that:

38% of teenage girls who spent 5 hours a day on social media suffered from depressive symptoms.
Given the same number of hours, only 14.5% of the children admitted to suffering from this symptomatology.
