Beware of Facebook rip-offs with fake profiles!
"Can you help me? I'm in a really bad financial situation and I can't pay my rent! I'm afraid of losing my apartment!" Who wouldn't help a friend in need? Writing to someone on Facebook is a common means of communication, even in urgent emergencies. But what if it's not the person you think it is, but a fake profile?
Facebook rip-off: A fake profile with the right data
The rip-off methods on the Internet are becoming more and more bahrain phone data brazen. The thieves copy the cover photo and profile picture of your private profile on Facebook and enter all the data that is publicly visible into their fake profile. There are different variants when it comes to naming. The name is either copied exactly or a small, unobtrusive change in spelling is made. The fake profile is ready. Then friend invitations are sent to your friends from the visible friends list and your friends can fall into the trap without you noticing.
What can I do to protect myself and my friends?
The privacy settings are the be-all and end-all here. To prevent strangers from seeing your friends on your profile, you can hide your friends list from others. This setting is a little hidden, but we will describe the steps step by step in a very understandable way:
Hide your friends list – Here's how:
Once logged in, click on the “ Home ” button at the top of Facebook. A series of options will open on the left side.
Directly below your name you will find the option “ Edit profile ” on the left.
Scroll down a little until you see your friends (the “Friends” item, which is already visible at the top, is NOT meant here).
