Google can recognize relationships between keywords, topics & entities

Post by Reddi2 »

Google can use co-occurrences between entities and keywords to identify which topics entities are in context with. The more frequently these co-occurrences occur, the greater the probability that a semantic connection exists. These co-occurrences can be determined using structured and unstructured information from website content, as well as search terms. (More on this in the articles How does Google process information from Wikipedia for the Knowledge Graph? , How can Google identify and interpret entities from unstructured content? and The role of natural language processing for data mining, entities & search queries .)

If the entity "Empire State Building" is often mentioned together panama phone number data with the entity type "skyscraper", there is a relationship. This means that Google can determine the relationship between entities and entity types, topics, keywords, etc. when indexing content or processing a search query. Google can determine the degree of relationship based on the average proximity in the texts and/or the frequency of co-occurrences that occur.

As already mentioned, entities can be provided with labels or information for clear identification and better classification in the ontological or thematic context. How Google does this exactly in the search engine context is speculation. But I would like to explain a few ways in which you can determine which properties Google associates with an entity.

Previously, if you entered my name "olaf kopp" in the keyword planner, you could have keywords displayed in a pre-grouped form. This no longer seems to work for people, brands, companies... I could no longer reproduce the following screenshot. Only keywords that also contain the entity name are displayed. But you should try it out for yourself.

Query Olaf Kopp in the Keyword Planner (formerly)

Google associated my entity with “main topics” such as advertising agency, online marketing , agency, internet marketing … and sorted it by relevance.

The output of the keywords in ungrouped form looked like this.
