Those concerned about Zoom’s weak privacy policies can choose any other video conferencing service. Basecamp co-founder David Heinemeier Hansson, a regular critic of Silicon Valley, suggests using Whereby, BlueJeans Network and Lifesize because they are more secure and less dependent on corporations. According to Hansson , Zoom is “broken at its core.” Other privacy advocates see the recent criticism as a wake-up call for Zoom.
“Zoom really has no real value if it doesn’t protect personal guatemala number data data. That’s why it needs to address this issue,” wrote Doc Searles, who directs research at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for the Study of Internet and Society, in a blog post.
That's the optimistic view. The pessimistic view is that as people try to adjust to remote work and learning, they don't have time to analyze privacy policies. Nor can they always convince an organization using Zoom to choose a more secure service.
Ultimately, Zoom is doing better than most of its competitors. Given people’s tendency to choose simplicity and convenience over privacy, it’s unlikely that things will change much unless the government intervenes.
Adults might laugh at such intrusions
