Target: Lookalikes
In addition to profile targeting, Facebook and Instagram also support Lookalike targeting.
You provide Facebook with a list of email addresses of people who have connected with your business.
Facebook then algorithmically analyzes their commonalities, such austria mobile database as demographics and interests.
Facebook then searches its total user base for these commonalities to create a customized list of 1 million or more Facebook users who are ideal targets for your ads.
The initial email list you provide to Facebook is called a "seed" audience. It is usually an existing group of users exported from an email marketing tool.
You want your seed to be the bottom audience, at least 1,000 people closer to a purchase conversion. So if you don't have 1,000 purchasers yet, back off to registered users. If you don't have 1,000 registered users yet, go back to previous activities like add to cart if you're an e-commerce company. If you don't have that yet, you can leverage your existing website visitors.
After uploading your seed audience, you’ll see a slider to choose how wide you want Facebook’s audience to be. Stick with the default of 1%, which matches 2 million people for a US audience. You should only consider going to 5 million if your product is very appealing, such as food and clothing. Otherwise, you’ll be diluted by the flood of information.
