You can increase the likelihood that your recommendations will be implemented if you can help the client focus on what is truly important. There are two main ways to accomplish this.

Ask for the moon, not the galaxy.
If you’re anything like me, you get a little excited when bolivia number data a client’s SEO action items are long and actionable. But when we try to push every recommendation at once, we do ourselves a disservice – they get overwhelmed and leave. They have nothing to hold on to, so nothing gets done. It seems counterintuitive that you’d do more work by recommending less, but it works.

They are busy and making difficult choices. Be their trusted advisor. Allow them to focus on one thing at a time by letting them know what they need to take care of while other projects stay on the back burner or in the background, because this is the higher-impact project they should be taking care of right now.

Give them sound bites they can sell.
It’s easy to forget that our immediate client contact isn’t always able to call the shots on a project on their own. They often have to sell it internally to get priority. To help them do this, give them catchy headlines, taglines, and soundbites that they can sell to their bosses and colleagues. Make them so memorable and repeatable, clients will buy into the ideas around their office with clarity and confidence, and even start to think they came up with the idea themselves.
