A bad name can get you into trouble
Honza Páv and Matez Jindra from Lovebrand presented their tips on how to choose names at Brandstorming. There will be no one in the Czech Republic more qualified than these two gentlemen from a brand agency that does similar things like this on a conveyor belt. But names are often a challenge for them too.
You have huge competition:
202,662 .cz domain registrations in the Czech Republic in 2017 (according to cz.nic)
32,187 new companies in the Czech Republic in 2007 (according to ČTK)
8,071 new trademarks in the Czech Republic per year (according to E15)
This means that thousands of new names need to be homeowner database invented every year for your brand, domain, and even products. The name must be in harmony with your other offerings. A bad name will always catch up with you. For example, like these companies:
For example, you will outgrow your original segment (such as the Student Agency brand )
You will not change the established associations (such as the Savings Bank yes. )
You won't get legal protection, and you'll literally lose your brand overnight (like Pepa.cz )
At best, people will just laugh at you.
Plan far ahead
It is important to think about the name from the beginning if you want to go to the foreign market later ( Korálky.cz will have significant pronunciation problems in France, for example). This also applies to websites. If you are planning to expand, have SEO professionals design a concept that will allow you to grow. Choosing and setting up the right domain is essential right from the start.
