Laws on artificial intelligence in Brazil

Post by monira444 »

Replacing human labor with machines, plagiarism, creating unrealistic images and information, reproducing human voices… These are some of the concerns present in discussions about the use of artificial intelligence. After all, what ethics should be followed in relation to technological tools?

The job market is usually the environment most impacted by the development of artificial intelligence. This is because some companies may choose to use the tools to replace some of the simpler functions performed by professionals.

And, although there is still no legal concept for artificial benin mobile database intelligence in Brazil, Bill 21/2020 aims to create the Legal Framework for the Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence. The Bill was approved by the Chamber of Deputies in September 2021, but is still awaiting consideration in the Senate to be approved and converted into law.

At the end of last year, a committee of jurists tasked with drafting a proposal for regulating AI in Brazil presented a final report on the matter to the then president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco.

The committee would have to support the preparation of a substitute for bills 5,051/2019; 21/2020 and 872/2021, which had common objectives such as establishing principles, rules, guidelines and foundations for regulating the development and application of AI in the country.

And even though a general law on the development and application of AI in Brazil has not yet been defined, society can already count on applicable standards against abuse and risk situations that exist in relation to sensitive data used by technological tools, such as the General Data Protection Law (13,709/2018), the General Telecommunications Law (9,472/1997), the Access to Information Law (12,527/2011), and the Internet Civil Rights Framework (12,965/2014).
