What Does the Merger of Social Media and the Metaverse Mean?

Post by sakib40 »

The answer has several facets. On the one hand, although it remains a giant, Facebook is undoubtedly becoming less attractive to users, especially younger ones; other platforms like TikTok and Twitter are now taking precedence.

In fact, a Wall Street Journal report warned—just in September 2021—about the aging of the network by 2023. It is estimated that, by then, Facebook will have lost 45% of its active teenage users.

Mark Zuckerberg knows he must reinvent himself somehow vnpay database if he wants users to return to him. In that sense, the project to create a metaverse/universe is particularly appealing, especially to younger generations.

On the other hand, Facebook already has the basic structure to create a metaverse to a certain extent : it has several sections that allow users to interact and perform different activities. These include the Work, Relationships, Marketplace, and several other sections.

For the metaverse to be successful and fully operational, there must be a variety of companies willing to participate in this new virtual world. Thus, social media must be integrated so that users can move from one room to another and experience something new.

Mark Zuckerberg declared last summer in The Verge that if Facebook was the social network, Meta wants to be the metaverse. And from there, more and more rumors emerged that are now starting to become reality.
