What does it mean to do marketing ? It has always meant understanding and intercepting the needs of your customers but, even before that, being present in their minds (see the concept of top of mind ). To make this happen, for some years, but even more so today, companies have had to deal with a paradigm shift that has led them to face the world of Digital Marketing .

But before we talk about Digital Marketing, let's talk about Marketing: what exactly is it?

Marketing means identifying , understanding and satisfying human and social needs with the aim of creating a unique product/service (today we also talk about experience) that satisfies a specific market segment .

Over the years, companies have had to approach digital channels by increasingly moving towards Digital Marketing: a branch of marketing that uses the typical tools of these channels to establish a more effective relationship with the customer through personalized communication .

When we talk about Digital Marketing, the first buzzword we need to know is Search Engine Marketing (or SEM) which brings together all the activities aimed at the organic (SEO) or paid (SEA) positioning of a website and its contents on search engines (e.g. Google and Bing to name a few)

Within the SEM , we can distinguish:

SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) that allows you to improve the organic positioning of a website on the search engine results page. The results are obtained by searching for a keyword. Therefore, a series of web pages linked to the keyword searched will appear: some of these pages will be positioned high among the results, others at the bottom. But what exactly does “organic” mean? One of the tools that Google uses to position a web page is the presence of certain keywords within the page; in fact, Google will try to position the results that are as closely linked as possible to the keyword typed by the user in the top positions. This system does not imply direct investments by the company but a good ability to write content consistent with the keyword searched, for this reason it is identified as organic.
SEA ( Search Engine Advertising ) consists of conveying advertising actions through digital communication channels . There are two types of digital advertising: Search and Display .
In “ Search” campaigns the goal is to position a site in the top positions on the search engine results page by “purchasing” the keywords used by the user during the search phase.
“Dis play” campaigns, on the other hand, are very similar to print ads. The goal is to purchase advertising space (such as banners) on non-proprietary sites.
In addition to the world of search engines we also find SMO ( Social Media Optimization ) which concerns all those activities related to the world and use of social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and others, to increase interaction with your brand.
