We might assume that the health category has seen the biggest increase in search traffic.

However, we have been suffering from this crisis for some time now and health is not our only concern.

It is all about overcoming quarantine and seeking refuge at home, so we have started to adapt to this new situation and the categories of home and garden, sports and hobbies and leisure are increasing significantly.

As we can see in the following table (SEMrush sensor), search traffic in the real estate category shows a very high volatility in line with the movements that are taking place in this sector, which are constant, for example, the news that appears in the SERP showing uncertainty about leasing or buying homes and premises.

We also collected traffic data from hundreds of top websites in each category with the highest volatility (SEMrush Sensor).

Considering that these industries historically have high search volumes, even a small variation translates into millions of new visitors.

It is no surprise that the books and literature category is experiencing a huge increase in total traffic worldwide.

We have analyzed 5 domains in the category of books and literature in Spain and these are the results we have obtained (local data included):

Thus, we can see that Casa del Libro, a consolidated leader in the market, has experienced a growth of almost two million (27%) in just two months. Other smaller competitors have also experienced notable growth.

It is interesting to see that Goodreads, which now belongs to Amazon and is among the top 5 book sites in Spain, has seen a 4.4% drop in traffic from January to March.
