Games of the week: The Last of Us, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Marvel Heroes

The Last of Us
Even
before its release, The Last of Us (in Russia it is sold under the unexpected title “The Last of Us”) gathered the most ideal press imaginable: of the major Western publications, only the nonconformist Polygon . com dared not to give the game 10 out of 10. There are reasonable reasons for this - there is no more verified, developed and emotional game on PlayStation 3. The designers and scriptwriters of the Naughty Dog studio (the authors of the Uncharted trilogy ) do terrible things with our consciousness: you empathize with two virtual heroes traveling through an abandoned, zombie-infected America more than with the characters on the big screen of the cinema.

This is achieved
both through game mechanics (the main character is not a superman,
it takes a lot of time and effort to kill each zombie or bandit; the sight shakes,
there are never enough bullets), and thanks to the extremely convincing acting (they
were specially recruited from the second echelon, so as not to shade the characters' personalities).
Joel and Ellie's journey from East to West food and beverage email list lasts about 15 hours - during this
time, several seasons will change in the game, and the main character will come to the realization
that saving all of humanity is not worth the lives of those close to him.

They say : "Towards the end of the game, I was pausing more and more because I felt like
I was doing something wrong, killing all these people. I felt like a bad
person." Phil Kollar, Polygon . com.

We say :
The best reason to own a PlayStation 3 right
now. A contender for game of the year.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Portable
XCOM : Enemy Unknown costs a record-breaking $20 — an unheard-of price for a game app in the AppStore . The answer is simple: this is a full-fledged port of last year's game for PC , Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 — with minor compromises in image quality and absolutely the same gameplay that earned multiple "Best Game of 2012" awards.

This is
a classic with a modern twist: turn-based combat, base micromanagement, but at the
same time - spectacular camera angles, tense story inserts and cunning AI . The game was created by Sid Meier's Firaxis studio ( Civilization ), which guarantees
a certain level of quality.

Enemy Unknown is a new step in the development of tablet games , the first port
of a "big" game from "big" consoles, which is especially good on iPad (there is also a version for iPhone , but it is not so convenient to play on a small screen).
And an interesting experiment: how many people are ready to buy an iOS game for $20? We, just in case, highly
recommend it.

They say : "I spent 43 hours on XCOM : Enemy Unknown in 4 days. And I want more." Rich Stanton, Eurogamer . net.

We say : the game is worth every penny. Buy one for yourself and one for your grandchildren.

Marvel Heroes

Marvel Heroes , a free-to -play action RPG about Marvel superheroes , has one major flaw: Marvel superheroes . Unlike its rival DC Universe Online , you can't create your own character and customize their superpowers to your liking. But you can choose from five free heroes ( Daredevil , Scarlett Witch , The Thing , Hawkeye , Storm ), or buy more for real money - Spider-Man, for example, will cost you $20. Considering the game's servers are already filled with comic book fans, Marvel Heroes can be an absurd sight, with several identical heroes humiliating a supervillain who clearly didn't expect such a turn of events.
