Duplicate detection when importing data
To ensure that possible duplicates are identified as early as possible, we compare the addresses being imported with existing data in the CRM system. This is done based on the combination of the same name and email address. However, we do not prevent the data from being imported (it is entirely realistic that you would want to have a Thomas Müller with an info@konzern address twice in the system, as they are just namesakes), but these contacts are simply marked as duplicates and a preview is generated. This way, you can then decide for yourself whether these are actually redundant data records or just namesakes.
If we have identified a duplicate, all linked data (e.g. telephone number, address, tags) are also checked for duplicates and combined into a new person or company. An example:
Tags: Customer, Trade FairA
The duplicate search by first and last name would identify Mr. Müller as a duplicate and combine them into one person. This person would then have the denmark telegram screening email address, telephone number and address as well as all three tags. All tasks, notes, connections and file attachments would also be assigned to the new person. So you won't lose any information, no matter which person it was previously stored with.
You can imagine that comparing all people and the associated master data takes some time, depending on the size of your account. Therefore, the duplicates are cleaned up in the background and you will be notified, similar to a file import, as soon as your account has been cleaned of the duplicates.
