How to evaluate the effectiveness of an RnD team
Not every RnD project reaches the development team, some remain just hypotheses . Therefore, the following metrics are used to evaluate RnD work:

number of tasks in progress;
number of projects that did not reach production;
number of projects that have reached the development stage;
average cost of a successful case;
cost of the entire RnD;
RnD cycle duration.
Metrics are collected several times a year. They help calculate how effectively the RnD team works. For enterprise companies, the success of every third product is considered a good result, in startups this figure can be one in a hundred.

Despite the fact that all hypotheses formed by the R&D engineer are scientifically substantiated, they may not meet expectations. The exact number of unsuccessful hypotheses is individual and depends on the project. Even a successful implementation of a hypothesis can give a different result. Sometimes it improves the quality of the product by 5%, sometimes by 10%. Some hypotheses help speed up the service or reduce the number of bugs .
