kind of crises that can keep you awake, really real problems, very difficult to manage. Two affected my family, one affected my friendship and one affected my business. So really four big worries, four very difficult events to manage.
We often say, this is a small aside, but in French, there is a kind of proverb, a saying, which is: "Un malheur n'arrive jamais seul". This means that basically, when you have bad news or when something negative happens to you, well often expect another one to happen because misfortunes tend to come one after the other. I think we also say: "Un bonheur n'arrive jamais seul" because we also often have a chain of positive things.
So, for my part, I had years during which successes and positive things really accumulated and I had two years during which... Of course, I had lots of things that worked and that worked, but I had four big challenges in two years.
And here we are in 2022 and I feel like... So, it could change overnight. I could get a phone call in five minutes that literally changes what I'm saying. In any case, for the israel whatsapp number data moment, everything seems to be going well. Let's say "all the lights are green". The four major problems I was talking about are resolved, are part of the past, and that's cool. So, I can say, I think, that I managed to come out of this ordeal with a lot of serenity. And these two years, which were ultimately complicated, I think I managed them really well, these years 2019 to 2020, or even 2021. Let's say maybe two and a half years, since there was a part of 2019 and a part of 2020-2021. Let's say two and a half years, a little more maybe.
And why did I manage to… I think I handled them with serenity? Certainly not because I have a serene nature, certainly not. Those who have been following this podcast for a long time know that, on the contrary, my nature is rather anxious and I have to do a lot of work not to be anxious precisely because it is against my nature.
So, it's not because I'm naturally serene, it's not because I have a power that you don't have, absolutely not, and it's not because I'm more resistant or resilient, not at all.
It's simply because I prepared myself. It's simply because during those years 2013-2018, when everything was going great, when I didn't have a cloud over my head, when it was summer, I didn't sit around doing nothing. I read a lot, I thought a lot. I've been keeping a journal in which I write every day since 2017 and I don't write just for fun, I write to think, to learn, to try to understand the world I live in and to try to simply improve my reactions to the world I live in.
So, I spent all this time working anyway, trying to build a philosophy of life, trying to improve myself in all areas of my life and that's what I talk about in my book 4 Pills for a Rich and Stress-Free Life . You can find the link elsewhere in the description, but I talk about that too. It's putting in place systems that allow you to progress every day.
So instead of thinking, "Everything's fine, everything's great, I don't have to work," I've been preparing for the winter. I've been reading for... this is the third year, maybe the fourth, I'm not sure anymore, but I've been reading a book called Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday, which I recommend, because I've given it to a lot of friends. It's an extraordinary book, in my opinion, where you're presented with a piece of Stoic wisdom every day.
And so, I read a little bit of this book every day. I didn't say to myself: "I'm going to read this book like this once." No, every day, I repeat it and I start again. Now, it's January, I've gone back to the beginning of this book and I'm rereading the same thing and I'm trying to soak up all these things.
This is proof that you can change your nature
