Let's create a report format using "Exploration

Post by gafimiv406 »

First, access any GA4 admin screen and select "Explore" from the menu on the left.

fig02

Once you are on the data exploration page, click "Blank".

fig03

You will be redirected to the following screen, so in the "Data exploration name:" section, give it an easy-to-understand name such as "Number of external link clicks."

fig04

Adding a variable "segment"
Next, add a segment: Click the "+" sign to the right of "Segments."

fig05The following screen will then open, select "Event Segment".

fig06

You will be redirected to the next screen, where you can give the "Untitled Segment" a name such as "Click Event" and click "Add new condition".

fig07

Select "click" under "Events" on the screen that opens.

fig08

You will be returned to the original screen. Make sure that the event name is "Click Event" and the condition is "click", then click "Save and Apply" in the upper left to save.

fig09

Adding a "dimension" to a variable
Next, add a dimension. Click the "+" sign to the right of "Dimensions."

fig10

Click on the "Links" tab.

fig11

The child elements will then be displayed, so check "Destination URL" and click "Import" in the upper left.

fig12

The following screens will then be displayed for "Segments" and "Dimensions".

fig13

Adding variable "indicators"
Next, add "Metrics." Click the "+" sign to the right of "Metrics."

fig14

Check "Number of events" under "Event" in the indicator type.

fig15

Additionally, check "Total number of users" under "Users" at the bottom of the same screen.

fig16

Once you have checked the boxes, click "Import" in the upper right corner of the screen.

fig17

Then the "Index" section will be displayed as follows:

fig18

Tab Settings
Add the dimension "Destination URL" to "Rows"
Next, move on to "Tab Settings" on the right.
"Segment Comparison" should already have "Click Event" in it, so drag and drop "Destination URL" from "Dimensions" to "Rows".

fig19

Add "Number of Events" and "Total Number of Users" to "Columns" under "Metrics"
Next, drag and drop the "Number of Events" and "Total Number of Users" from "Metrics" to "Columns".

fig20

When "Destination URL" is set in "Row" australia number data and "Number of events" and "Total number of users" are set in "Value", details such as the URL ranking will be displayed in the "Free form" area on the left.

fig21

This completes the creation of a report on the number of clicks on external links.

fig22

You can now check the number of clicks on external links from the "Explore" menu
From now on, you will be able to view it from the "External Link Clicks" in the "Explore" list.

fig23

Finally… External link clicks are an important metric
This time, we explained how to create a report on the number of clicks on external links in "Explore". Although it is not a standard indicator in GA4, it is one of the important indicators that are essential for analysis in GA4 to understand user behavior. In order to strengthen your company's web marketing, we recommend that you continue to pay close attention to the number of clicks on external links.
