By default, this occurs after six months of inactivity (no logins). Users can adjust this setting to trigger account self-destruction after 1, 3, 6, or 12 months of inactivity. All your data—including messages, contacts, and media—is permanently deleted from Telegram’s servers. Cloud Messages (Personal and Group Chats) Telegram's cloud-based chats are stored on its servers to allow users to access messages from any device. These messages are retained indefinitely unless manually deleted by the user. If you delete a message for yourself: Only your local copy is removed.
If you delete a message for both sides (using Telegram’s ‘delete kuwait telegram data for everyone’ feature): The message is removed from both devices and Telegram’s servers. Group messages and media: Stay on Telegram’s servers until deleted by an admin or individual users. There’s no automatic expiration unless manually set. Telegram claims its servers use distributed infrastructure across multiple jurisdictions for data security and redundancy. However, for these messages, data remains accessible to users unless proactively removed.
Secret Chats Telegram’s Secret Chats employ end-to-end encryption and are not stored on Telegram’s servers. Instead, the encryption keys are device-specific, and messages remain solely on the devices involved. Secret Chats have built-in self-destruct timers which allow users to set expiration times for messages ranging from 1 second to 1 week after being read. Once this timer expires, the message is deleted from both devices and cannot be recovered. If a user deletes a Secret Chat manually, the entire conversation is removed from both devices instantly. Telegram never retains Secret Chat messages on its servers.
