Companies' commitment to reducing their carbon footprint: where are we now?

Post by nrumohammad0 »

Many of the world’s largest businesses are currently engaged in a “Net Zero” program, which promotes and encourages all corporate actions that ideally aim for the total elimination of emissions (direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, resulting from the generation of electricity purchased or produced within a company’s value chain).

According to a recent report by Accenture, more than a third (34%) of the world’s largest organizations are participating in the program, but nearly all (93%) will fail to achieve their 2030 goals unless they double the pace of emissions reduction.

Analyzing how the world’s 2,000 largest public and private companies are reducing their ghana whatsapp resource emissions, Accelerating Global Companies to Net Zero by 2050 finds that rising energy price inflation and supply insecurity are negatively impacting the chances of success of carbon footprint reduction initiatives. This is despite a commitment that is becoming more solid every day: more and more companies are setting clear and publicly visible decarbonization targets . The Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), for example, has seen a record increase in the number of validated corporate targets.
